We all went on our last group trip this
weekend (December 3). Started way too early
on Saturday, went to see the Bayeaux
Tapestry first, then to Le Mont Saint-Michel
which was this incredibly amazing little
island town with one main street in it.
Climbed a lot of steps....had an amazing
view from the Abbey. It rained and was so
cold. Later that night we saw a meteor
shower, and a lot of birds and airplanes> Or
they were falling stars; we couldn't quite
tell. Left early Sunday morning, the tide
was in and sun was bright. Drove to the WWII
war memorial site which still had craters
from US bombing attacks against the German
bunkers along the beaches. Grass had grown
over all of them and it looked like a hilly
golf course. Then we drove to Omaha Beach (I
think) and saw the landing beaches of US
troops. There was a cemetery and memorial
there for all the troops. This place is
considered US soil. Kept driving, went to
the WWII Museum. The coasts were so
beautiful and green. Saw the floating docks
where US ships unloaded troops and equipment |
