Well, this is it. Meg flew to Toronto and then off to Paris on Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd.

September 2005

On the way to Lyon, 9-24-05

Looks like they found an Irish Pub in Lyons.

Back in Paris at the Musee d'Orsay, one of Meg's favorites.

Giverny - Monet's ole hangout - 9-28-05

Meg explored Versailles, especially down by the Grand Trianon.

Somehow, Meg and friends got tickets to a special Antique show in Paris. On the runway...

Pantheon, 10-12-05

Pictures of Meg, Jessica and Molly in Normandy, staying at the beach house of Jessica's host family in
Trouville. They left Trouville on a gray day, and switched trains in Lisieux. Got
back into Paris early and Meg made everyone play frisbee on the Champs de Mars.

After work on 10-17, Meg went to Le Marais and walked down rue St. Paul and wandered around the
interconnecting courtyards (the old royal stables), which were right by the schoolyard.

These pictures are from our class trip to the Chateau Vaux Le Vicompte. I went to the top of the dome, and from the lantern you could see a great panoramic view of the chateau's land. The rest are just random pictures of me, like by the gate, or on the wall next to the moat of the Chateau. The very last picture is of me and Jessica on the Champs-Elysees in front of Thomas Jefferson's house, I guess he stayed here whenever he was in Paris, which must have been often, I don't really know the story, but the plaque we're in front of comemorates Thomoas Jefferson's life contributions.

Some silly pics. Meg got stuck in a chair while getting her hair cut.

Then Meg and Jessica went to Maastricht to meet up with Mom and join the UD group in Bruges on 10-27.

Here are pictures from my Halloween in Paris. Although its gotta be the most amazing city in the world, turns out Paris hates Halloween. So, my friends and I had our own party. We went over to my friend's wonderful host family's house and had dinner with their Spanish friends. Then we all salsa danced in the kitchen. People in costume included a drag queen, a princess, and a guy with sparkles all over his face! We danced, we sang, we drank.....our French friends and new Spanish friends agreed the night was a success!

Because of the riots we were told to go to the Basilica of St. Denis during the day, 11-6.
I saw all the tombs of the French kings and queens and other French royals.
The last two pictures are at my work for the publishing firm.
Obviously it wasn't too strenuous, but I got caught taking pictures and felt like such a tourist!

The first picture is from the Chateau of Josephine and Napolean III. The next ones are from the

Hotel National des Invalides on 11-9. I visited Napolean's tomb and the
WWII Army Museum. The final ones are of a dinner party with some friends. Sebastien
is the best chef ever, and spent seven hours cooking an amazing dinner.

11-21-05. We went to the Louvre for a night class, saw the apartments of Napoleon III, then toured some more parts of the Louvre, didn't take too many pictures because, well, nothing is going to be as amazing as the original. Also went to the Galerie Vivienne, the first shopping arcades were in Paris. The next set are some pictures of me and some friends hanging out, went to a club later. Paris clubs are fun! The final set of pictures was of our Tour of Montmartre. It was a cold day so Jess and I went to our favorite little cafe near by, then we went boot shopping!

On 11-18, 24 and 25, I worked at a Mexican Textile Exposition held at the house of the Mexican Ambassador in Paris.
Serve from the left; remove from the right.

Went to Dublin for Thanksgiving on 11-25! Met up with Christine, Ciara, and Mya at the Spike on O'Connell St. Stayed with Mya and Ciara at their lovely new home. It snowed the night of Thanksgiving! Went out the second night. Was so good to see everyone. Came back to Paris on Saturday, 11-27th at night.

I went to the Klimt show with Jessica at Grand Palais on December 1, very good exhibit but there
were so many people there. We were supposed to go to the Atlantic Gardens, but I think I went to the
wrong place, so here I am on top of what I thought was the Atlantic Gardens but turned out to be some rooftop.

We all went on our last group trip this weekend (December 3). Started way too early on Saturday, went to see the Bayeaux Tapestry first, then to Le Mont Saint-Michel which was this incredibly amazing little island town with one main street in it. Climbed a lot of steps....had an amazing view from the Abbey. It rained and was so cold. Later that night we saw a meteor shower, and a lot of birds and airplanes> Or they were falling stars; we couldn't quite tell. Left early Sunday morning, the tide was in and sun was bright. Drove to the WWII war memorial site which still had craters from US bombing attacks against the German bunkers along the beaches. Grass had grown over all of them and it looked like a hilly golf course. Then we drove to Omaha Beach (I think) and saw the landing beaches of US troops. There was a cemetery and memorial there for all the troops. This place is considered US soil. Kept driving, went to the WWII Museum. The coasts were so beautiful and green. Saw the floating docks where US ships unloaded troops and equipment.

12-9. For my last task for the day at work was to go to the Louvre to research, and when I was finished I decided to visit the museum since it's free Friday nights for students. This was my sixth visit to the Louvre, and I was determined to finally find Hammaurabi's Code. Well I found it....this is me being thoroughly disappointed. Megan Simpson studied abroad in England this fall semester, and with her program finished came to visit Paris for a few days. We went all over......chased by guards at the Louvre for an illegal photo, got lost ON the Eiffel Tower, and hungout with Quasimodo at Notre-Dame......it was a fun weekend!
