Wednesday, December 2, 2010 - 1st Night of Hanukkah.

I don't know what YOU got for the first night of Hanukkah, but I gave my Mommy and Daddy - ME!. Kinda fun. Meg and Chaim became Mom and Dad. Mom's Mom and Dad became Bubbe and Zaide. Mom's brother and sister became Uncle Eliot and Aunt Carly. And Bubbe's sister became Great Auntie Carolyn. Wow - the beginning of lots of changes.

I was born Jensen I. Garfield at 3:28am, December 2nd. 10 lbs. 21 inches. And cute as a button (rather large button), they say. Great Auntie Carolyn stayed with Grandma in Dubuque. Zaide's Mom, Omi, became G.G. and she stayed by her phone in Hollywood, Flordia, for the news.

While Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Alan did a Hanukkah Celebration at the University of Dubuque, Auntie Carly texted them that I was on the way to the hospital. What a Hanukkah present. The tv station KWWL TV 7 and the newspaper Telegraph Herald both did lead stories on the Hanukkah-birth story. Fun stuff. But these pics say it all. Auntie Carly camped out at the hospital and knew everyone there. Uncle Eliot was texting Bubbe and Zaide from Fairbanks, Alaska while working at the Eugene Ballet. Well, it was a long night, but everyone was fine. Sleepless, but fine.

Zaide said that my birth was like many of God's gifts, great and good and hard to figure it all out. But he said that since Bubbe has all the answers, she'll tell him what to do when she's good 'n ready. He thinks she makes a stunning Bubbe.

We were all wondering what would happen on the second night of Hanukkah. Turns out - well deserved sleep for all.
